DEVOTION – May 12

TOO OLD?
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
~ 1 Peter 5:7 NIV
The feeling of being needed never gets old.
As a parent you never get tired of your children running up with the desire to be embraced by your loving arms.
When your children come to you for instruction in life and take heed it pleases your heart on a very deep level.
To know that when they are in trouble they will rely on Dad to help them out is one of the greatest feelings a father can experience.
The same can be said for the opposite.
For those who are not called upon or depended on, the feeling is the worse. To see your children bypass you to rely on others who don’t have their best interest in mind is one of the most painful experiences a parent will endure.
Yet, we do it to God all the time.
I can’t count how many times I’ve consulted man for direction God had already provided.
I remember countless times when I was emotionally distraught and leaned on people and substances to numb the pain.
When all along God’s arms are wide open waiting patiently for me to run into them. Desiring to embrace me and flood me with his warm love.
Walkerville, you’re never too old to be God’s child. No matter how tall you grow, how large your muscles are, and how accomplished you become in life…you will always be one of His children.
It is always okay to come to him broken and without answers. Showing your frailties and being in dire need of Him in all areas of your life.
Be encouraged to remain vulnerable and in need of God throughout your life. He is not a God of dictatorship, He is all about relationship.
Ready and willing to meet every need the moment you cry out.
Let’s pray…
“Father thank you for always being there for me. As I grow older the world instructs me to be more dependent. They encourage me to figure life out on my own. But I need you Lord. I need you now more than ever before. Thank you for always meeting me at my point of need. Never judging my wrongs instead you always meet me with a warm, loving embrace. I’m thankful to be the man that I am today, and honored to be your child forever. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
